Manual or Automatic is personal preference, but whichever way you decide to go, Lookup will teach you all the correct driving skills and techniques.
The required skills for both automatic & manual are exactly the same - with only clutch control and gear changing adding an extra dimension to manual driving. If learning in your own vehicle is your preferred choice, your first lesson, at least, must be in the instructor provided vehicle.

Using your own car offers familiarity, but you must ensure it complies with any specific age or modification restrictions. We recommend checking these details with your instructor or the licensing authority beforehand to ensure a smooth experience on the day.

In Queensland, you can begin professional driving lessons as soon as you hold a valid learner license, which you can apply for at 16 years of age. You must have your learner permit with you during every lesson. If you're looking to start early, you can complete the PrepL online course or the written road rules test at 15 years and 11 months.
